I am very proud to announce our entry into the energy storage market with our new utility-scale battery system, JinKo ESS SunTera 5 MWh.
Already leaders in the solar PV market, we are looking to duplicate this success in the Energy Storage field. This product is not just a significant company milestone for our expanding product line, it’s a significant step towards transitioning global energy needs with smarter, safer and more efficient technologies.
I will take you through an overview of the product launch, its market-leading technical capabilities, and the ultimate business benefits which our global customers will be leveraging.
What’s new about the SunTera 5 MWh ESS
Having significantly upgraded the energy capacity with our new 314 Ah battery cell, our SunTera now boasts over 5 MWh. SunTera 5 MWh also stands out in the industry with its system level RTE of up to 94%. This efficiency, coupled with improved energy density and lower price points have conspired to ensure SunTera is a force to be reckoned with in this space.
SunTera 5 MWh ESS key product features
Higher energy density
We have focused our engineering design to ensure optimal capacity from the SunTera 5 MWh whilst also retaining its sleek and compact footprint.
Site utilisation has also increased by over 30%, with one-sided door opening and side-by-side battery placement. This leap in energy density allows for greater site flexibility, even for very space-constrained sites.
Higher efficiency
Efficiency is at the heart of what we do here at JinKo ESS and the SunTera 5 MWh is no exception. System Round-Trip-Efficiency (RTE) has been a key focus for us, and we now enjoy our market leading position with an impressive 94+%. Also, with our improved energy conversion rates, SunTera ensures that more of the installed energy is available for usage or trading, thereby offering more Return on Investment (ROI) opportunities through additional services to the grid.
Longer service life
Long-term durability is crucial in energy storage systems which is why we have afforded so much resource and effort into maximising the life cycle of SunTera 5 MWh.
The warranted life cycle of the system has now increased to over 8000 cycles with over 70% SOH remaining.
This means our customers benefit from longer service life and sustained performance throughout the assets lifetime, resulting in lower Total Cost of Ownership over time.
Enhanced safety measures
Safety cannot be overstated in the realm of energy storage. The SunTera 5 MWh features advanced "detection and response" mechanisms to provide safeguards at all levels from thermal management to structural considerations, ensuring that the system operates safely under all conditions.
Structural safety
Featuring comprehensive multi-level protections, with fire retardant material selection, segregated compartment design and a multi-tiered anti-leakage architecture, ensuring robust safety and reliability across the system.
Electrical safety
Employing a three-stage fuse system for accurate fault identification and swift disconnection, coupled with real-time leak detection and the use of anti-arcing materials ensure pro-active electrical safety, whilst the BMS ensures re-active and preventative safety measures.
SunTera 5 MWh has triple-layer fire protections. Featuring precise pack-level aerosol suppression for targeted rapid response, sprinkler systems for local temperature control and system oriented dry pipe for fail-safe last scenarios. Enhanced with hazard detection systems and pressure release mechanisms, SunTera is protected at all levels.
Lower power consumption
JinKo’s innovative cooling and management systems ensure that the SunTera 5 MWh uses 15% less auxiliary power to operate. This reduction in auxiliary power consumption contributes to an overall increase in system efficiency, supporting our commitment to sustainable energy solutions.
Lower operational costs
We understand that operational efficiency is key to our customers. The SunTera 5 MWh is designed with intelligent systems that not only reduce the frequency of maintenance but also simplify the processes involved, significantly cutting down on operational costs.
All of these key product features showcase JinKo’s commitment to a cost-effective BESS solution that does not sacrifice quality.
The SunTera 5 MWh Smart O&M technology
We’re introducing an advanced suite of smart O&M features designed to optimise performance, enhance safety, and streamline maintenance processes. These intelligent systems ensure our energy storage solution is not only efficient but also reliable and easy to manage. Here's how we're enhancing O&M through innovation:
